OR Supreme Court: AFT v OTU

By

A local blogger, NW Republican, weighs in on the American Federation of Teachers, AFT, AFL-CIO v. Oregon Taxpayers United Pac case (S054403) that will be argued before the Oregon Supreme Court on September 10th, 2007.

For a summary of the case, and a link to the calendar, go here.

From the Court’s web site:

American Fed. of Teachers v. Oregon Taxpayers United, S054403, A122158. Defendants seek review of a Court of Appeals decision reversing in part and affirming in part the trial court’s judgment.

Plaintiffs Oregon Education Association (OEA) and American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and the state, as intervenor, sought and obtained a judgment under the Oregon Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (ORICO), ORS 166.715 to 166.735, against defendants Oregon Taxpayers United Political Action Committee (OTU- PAC) and Oregon Taxpayers United Education Foundation (OTU-EF), based on defendants’ allegedly unlawful activities in connection with two 2000 initiative measures, Measures 92 and 98.”

We have the Court of Appeals briefs (A122158) in my library’s digital collection, but not the Supreme Court briefs just filed.

    The SC level briefs?

From the May 2, 2007, news of the court there was a rule they passed that requires, as of May 1, 2007, that briefs on the merits must be submitted in PDF format.

It would surely be amenable to a public records request to obtain the electronic version. But a simple URL would be easier.
