“Vote” 365 Days of the Year: Talk, Talk, Talk to your Elected Representatives

By

We can “vote” 365 days of the year, not just on election days, at least as long as our U.S. Constitution remains intact:

Every Day is “Call Government Switchboard Day” or “Talk to Your Elected Representatives Day”:

Congress (use this one for contact info and this one for Congressional activities and documents), or:
202-224-3121 (toll free: 877-826-4344) will get you to the Capitol switchboard. (Visit Tips on Calling Your Member of Congress to find out how the switchboard works and read tips from Emily Ellsworth.)

Whitehouse (the President), Call the President:
Switchboard: 202-456-1414
TTY/TTD:
Visitor’s Office: 202-456-2121

U.S. Supreme Court:
Note: U.S. Supreme Court Justices are not your representatives, per se, but if you think they aren’t affected, shamed, or otherwise influenced by public opinion (and by your elected U.S. Senators and Representatives or money), you’re not paying attention. They also clearly communicate with the media, so why not with you? (I archived the latter info at the Internet Archive.)

Oregon:

Don’t forget your state governor, legislative administration, courts, state senators and representatives, and  local elected officials:

Oregon Legislature (Look for the “Find Your District and Legislators” link on that homepage.)

Oregon Governor (click on the Contact link).

Oregon Judicial Branch. Questions and comments can be directed to the OJD Administrative Office: 503.986.5500 or contacts provided at their website. A local Court Finder service is on the OJD’s homepage.

For Oregon local government issues, look for your city or town website or visit the League of Oregon Cities or the Association of Oregon Counties, both of which have links for people who want to communicate with their local representatives.

Whew. We sure have our work cut out for us, don’t we? But then we always have. These are pretty inspirational, if you need to be inspired by our country’s founders.
